Introduction to Drawing, Painting and Sculpting

This introductory workshop will give you a preview of Kingman’s knowledge of art history, the tools and materials available to you for further study in his 6,800 sf Mississippi riverside studio and your innate capacity to respond to all media.

Kingman believes that we are all born visionary artists. Each of us has a unique perspective on life. The measure of our success as artists is the degree to which we are able to respond to our feelings and needs with our chosen materials and share our unique perspective with the world.

In this 2 hour workshop, Kingman will

1. introduce you to the importance of familiarity with art history. (15 minutes)

2. present drawing as the foundation of all visual arts and give you drawing exercises (20 min)

3. ask you to “draw” with paint (20 min)

4. give you a small amount of sculpting clay or wax with which to make a “maquette” — a small sculptural study (45 minutes)

So this evening will be like a speed introduction studio art course.

Pre-registration and payment reserves your space, and ipreferred for all workshops and events. There are no refunds, but if you cancel more than 24-hours prior to the beginning of a class series, workshop, or event, your payment is transferred to a credit you can use for any Kingman Studio product or service. Such credits have no expiration date. If you cancel less than 24-hours prior, you forfeit your payment. Please register early as space is limited.
